This exhibition invites viewers to consider how early creative instincts inform artistic identity and how collaboration can serve as a site of affirmation.
Interdisciplinary artist Liv Cook presents her debut solo exhibition, Look What I Made—an investigation into identity, personal transformation, and the preservation of childhood imagination. Supported by the Broward County Cultural Division’s Artist Support Grant, this new body of work marks a pivotal evolution in Cook’s practice, blending autobiographical reflection with collaborative exchange.
Central to the exhibition is a series of eleven mixed-media portraits. Each begins with Cook’s depiction of a collaborator as a young child, drawn from a baby photograph. The canvas is then handed off to that artist to complete the background, allowing their present-day visual language to enter into conversation with their early likeness. This collaborative structure creates layered portraits that merge individual pasts with contemporary creative identities.
The exhibition also features a selection of recreated works from Cook’s own childhood, reimagined through the lens of her current practice. Together, these works invite viewers to consider the ways in which artistic identity is shaped, preserved, and transformed over time.
